The Authorize.Net Virtual Terminal is an online solution for many
businesses with it's web security built into web pages. IE browsers,
Firefox, Netscape, and versions of Mozilla browsers interface with
the gateway and encrypts credit card information over the Internet
conform to Mastercard and VISA regulations. Businesses can authorize,
process and manage credit card transactions from any computer that
has Internet access and an appropriate Web browser.
This
Virtual Terminal replaces standard authorization terminals (credit
card terminals) software, and provides the one of the best solutions
for MO/TO merchants who manually enter credit card transactions for
mail or phone order sales.
Virtual Terminal
suits large and small businesses of all sizes because it is easy to
understand yet powerful enough to expand with the growth of your business.
The expense and monthly cost is comparable to costs normally associated
with online authorizing and processing MO/TO credit card transactions.
It's also much faster than standard dial-up authorization systems
and is accessible anywhere you have an Internet connection.
Businesses that
we set an account up with Authorize.Net may access the Virtual Terminal
through the Authorize.Net Web site using any web browser like Internet
Explorer, Firefox, Netscape and related Mozilla products.
Authorize.net
does not issue merchant accounts. They are a secure Internet Gateway.
Authorize.net has been online for years providing a secure way for
businesses to accept credit card transactions online. Authorize.net
requires a merchant provider like us to issue a merchant account that
accesses their services.
This is how
it works. We issue you or your business a merchant account. Your
merchant account includes two numbers used for programming your account
and for routing the money from your sales into your bank account after
processing. We login with Authorize.net and open an account using
the merchant numbers assigned to your account We will issue you or
your business a ID and password to access the Authorize.net account.
Once you are at the main page, you may login. After logging into the
Authorize.Net account using the unique user ID and a password we issued,
merchants can access the complete range of Authorize.Net services
-- authorizations for purchases, credits and returns, status and activity
reports, and much more.
To authorize credit
card transactions online, merchant's must fill out an e-form providing
Authorize.Net with the information needed to process the credit card
transaction. All information is encrypted using the latest 128-bit
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 3.0 technology and is sent to an Authorize.Net
host server. The host server then transmits the data through the processing
network to the appropriate card issuer's bank using a secure, proprietary
network connection. The process takes about three seconds. Merchant's
receive an authorization number, and the Authorize.Net server stores
the transaction on it's servers for online review and returns. All
transactions (your sales) are automatically settled each day and are
typically funded within two to three business days. The money is routed
to your bank account using the information we submitted to get your
merchant account approved.
Merchants who
sign up for Authorize.net can also review the status of past and pending
transactions and run a host of reports directly from the Authorize.Net
Merchant Interface. The Virtual Terminal looks like a short form with
a few fields to fill out. Once you put in the customer's name, address
and associated credit card sale information, click submit at the bottom
of the screen and you are on your way to making a sale using a Virtual
Terminal.
